Spring is in full bloom and with it comes a vibrant season of learning, celebration, and student achievement! I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible efforts of our students, staff, and families as we dive into the final stretch of the school year.
We’re thrilled to invite you to our upcoming Talent Show on April 18th and Celebrate the Arts" Family Fun Night on April 24th hosted in collaboration with Patch Elementary School. This free Month of the Military Child (MOMC) event will feature student performances, art displays, indoor and outdoor games, delicious food, and even free ice cream! All ages are welcome, and we hope you’ll join us for an evening of creativity and community.
This quarter, our PBIS focus is centered around building academic habits for success. Â Strong academic habits help students take ownership of their learning and grow into confident, independent thinkers. When students develop consistent routines for studying, completing assignments, and asking for help when needed, they become more aware of their progress and take pride in their growth.Â
April is the Month of the Military Child, and we’re celebrating our amazing military-connected students all month long! Our students show strength, flexibility, and heart every single day—and we think that’s worth celebrating. Join us as we Purple Up! on April 9th by wearing your best purple gear to show your support!

This week at Patch Middle School, we're spotlighting the importance of healthy digital habits with the video Hack the Habits! In this fun and relatable video, students discover how everyday choices—like locking their screen and using devices for the intended purpose—can dramatically improve focus, reduce distractions, and support academic success. In class, students will revisit how small shifts in digital behavior can lead to big wins in productivity.  As we explore these strategies, we're encouraging students to take charge of their digital lives and build habits that will serve them both in and out of school.
In Mr. Pierre's class, students are actively engaged in vertical learning, working together at whiteboards around the room to solve complex problems. This collaborative approach encourages discussion, critical thinking, and teamwork as students build on each other's ideas and explore multiple strategies. Once they’ve worked through the problems, students take turns explaining their thinking to the class, using academic language and evidence to support their process. This not only reinforces their own understanding it also builds confidence as they defend their reasoning and learn from their peers' perspectives.
At Patch Middle School, we believe in recognizing students who go above and beyond to create a positive and supportive environment. This month, several students received Positive Office Referrals for demonstrating kindness and compassion toward their peers, both in and out of the classroom. Whether helping a classmate with a tough assignment, including someone new at lunch, or offering words of encouragement during a challenging moment, these students embody the values of respect and empathy that make our school community stronger. Their actions serve as a reminder that small gestures of kindness can have a big impact, and we are proud to celebrate their efforts!
Receiving Positive Office Referrals not only celebrates students' kindness but also reinforces the importance of empathy and leadership in their school journey. Demonstrating positive character traits like compassion and teamwork can strengthen their relationships with peers and teachers, creating a more supportive learning environment.Â

School Procedures
DoDEA School Dress Code
Students MUST wear:
- Tops with sleeves (sleeveless tops/dresses are permitted for school sponsored formal events such as prom)
- Solid clothing (not transparent or translucent) that fully covers the top and bottom from armpit to mid-thigh
- Shoes (shoes must be safe for the school environment)
- Bedroom slippers shall not be worn, except for school activities approved by the principal
- Open toe shoes with a strap across the heel are allowed
Students CANNOT wear clothing with:
- Language or images promoting violence
- Language or images that depict, promote, or advocate the illegal use or sale of drugs, alcohol or tobacco products; violent conduct; curse words; pornography; that contain threats or expressions which are violent, discriminatory, lewd or obscene; or that advocate or promote any other illegal item or activity or the use of same
- Derogatory speech/imagery targeting groups based on race/color, ethnicity/national origin, sex, disability, religion, or any other characteristic protected by law
- Headgear that obscures the face (except as a religious observance or health purpose); clothing items with hoods attached can be worn but must not cover the head
* Teachers/courses can require certain attire as part of the curriculum (for example: physical education, culinary) that may include specific dress
* DoDEA issued athletic uniforms and athletic practice attire outside of the DoDEA school dress code is permitted when worn by participants during athletic practices and sports events
