Clap Out
As we begin Quarter 4, we want to take a moment to recognize the continued growth, perseverance, and determination we see from our students each day. Middle school is a time of challenge, discovery, and tremendous progress, and we are proud of how our students continue to embrace a growth mindset—working hard, learning from mistakes, and supporting one another along the way. As we head into the final quarter of the school year, we look forward to celebrating our students’ accomplishments while continuing to support them as they finish the year strong.
This month, students in Grades 6 and 7 will participate in CCRS system-wide testing from April 20–24. We encourage families to support students during this time by ensuring they get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time ready to do their best. These simple steps can make a big difference in helping students feel confident and prepared.
April is an especially meaningful month at Patch Middle School as we celebrate the Month of the Military Child (MoMC). Our military-connected students bring resilience, adaptability, and strength to our community, and we are proud to recognize and celebrate them throughout the month. We would like to extend our deepest thanks to our PTSA for their incredible work planning and supporting our Month of the Military Child activities. Their dedication, creativity, and generosity help create memorable experiences for our students and truly strengthen our Patch community. We are so grateful for the time, energy, and care they put into making these celebrations possible.
Throughout April, students will participate in a variety of activities celebrating our military children, including the PTSA Color Run, Lunch with a Loved One, Dress-Up Days, a Pep Rally, the Purple Up Dance, and Arts Night with the Block Party. The month will conclude with Career Day and a special Clap Out for students, celebrating our Patch Wolves and the many accomplishments of the year.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of Patch Middle School. Together, we look forward to a wonderful month of celebrating our military children, supporting student success, and finishing the year strong.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Gamble and Mr. Myrga

At Patch Middle School, both Aspen and Google Classroom play important roles in keeping families informed, but each serves a different purpose. Understanding the difference helps parents and students stay on top of learning and grading.
Aspen – The Official Gradebook
Aspen is the only official record of student grades. Final assignment grades and overall course grades are entered and maintained in Aspen. When you want to know a student’s current standing in a class, always check Aspen first—these grades are the ones that count toward report cards and transcripts.
Google Classroom – The Learning Platform
Google Classroom is where teachers share assignment details, instructions, resources, and—when appropriate—provide a place for students to submit work digitally. While teachers may post feedback and scores in Google Classroom, these numbers are intended for communication and guidance only. They do not represent official grades.
Key Takeaway
Think of Aspen as the gradebook and Google Classroom as the classroom workspace. Both are important, but only Aspen contains the grades that appear on report cards.

Our front office team is ready to help students and families, but we need your support to keep things running smoothly. With two fewer permanent office positions, it may take a bit longer to reach our team. Thank you for your patience and support as we work hard to meet the needs of our school community.
