Greetings Patch MS Families!

We are incredibly proud of the great things our students are accomplishing each day at Patch. From strong academic achievement to meaningful growth in the classroom, our students continue to demonstrate what it means to live out our PAWS expectations—Problem Solve, Always Care, Work Hard, and Show Respect. Their effort, perseverance, and commitment to learning are evident across classrooms and activities.

We are encouraging all students to take pride in everything they do: their schoolwork, their interactions with others, and the choices they make each day. Patch Pride means showing respect, caring for our community, and working hard even when learning feels challenging. When students embrace PAWS, they help create a safe, supportive environment where everyone can succeed.

Pride shows up in our students in many ways—taking ownership of their learning, asking thoughtful questions, helping a classmate, staying focused during instruction, and treating others with kindness and respect. These everyday actions matter. When students take pride in their work and behavior, they build confidence, strengthen our school community, and contribute to a positive culture where everyone feels valued.

Warm regards,
Mrs. Gamble and Mr. Myrga

Important ~ Attendance & Office Calls

Updated Attendance & Withdrawal Information

Attendance Reporting

  • Phone calls are not accepted for attendance reporting.

  • Attendance emails must be received before 1:00 PM on most days.

  • On Thursdays, emails must be submitted before 12:00 PM.

Extended Absences (More Than 3 Consecutive Days)

If a student will be absent for more than three consecutive school days, families are required to complete an Extended Absence Form prior to the absence.

  • The form must be filled out by all of the student’s teachers.

  • Please request the form in advance to ensure enough time for completion.

Withdrawal / PCS Notice (Not Attendance-Related)

If a student will be moving or withdrawing, the school requires 7–10 business days’ advance notice to prepare all necessary checkout and student records.

Aspen vs. Google Classroom: Where to Find Official Grades

At Patch Middle School, both Aspen and Google Classroom play important roles in keeping families informed, but each serves a different purpose. Understanding the difference helps parents and students stay on top of learning and grading.

Aspen – The Official Gradebook
Aspen is the only official record of student grades. Final assignment grades and overall course grades are entered and maintained in Aspen. When you want to know a student’s current standing in a class, always check Aspen first—these grades are the ones that count toward report cards and transcripts.

Google Classroom – The Learning Platform
Google Classroom is where teachers share assignment details, instructions, resources, and—when appropriate—provide a place for students to submit work digitally. While teachers may post feedback and scores in Google Classroom, these numbers are intended for communication and guidance only. They do not represent official grades.

Key Takeaway
Think of Aspen as the gradebook and Google Classroom as the classroom workspace. Both are important, but only Aspen contains the grades that appear on report cards.

Patch Middle School – Front Office & Attendance Updates

Our front office team is ready to help students and families, but we need your support to keep things running smoothly. Please take note of these important reminders:

Student Absences
