Greetings Patch MS Families!

As we head into the holiday season and prepare for winter break, we want to wish all Patch Middle School students and families a joyful, restful, and well-deserved break. This special time of year offers a chance to slow down, celebrate, and recharge before the new year. As always, we remain focused on supporting our students’ academic growth, personal development, and overall well-being, and we appreciate the strong partnership we share with our families in helping students succeed.

December was filled with memorable moments and opportunities for our students to shine. Our talented musicians brought holiday cheer through a series of beautiful performances, including band, strings, piano, and choir concerts. Each event showcased students’ hard work, confidence, and creativity, and it was wonderful to see our school community come together to celebrate their accomplishments. These experiences highlight the many ways students grow beyond the classroom and develop skills that will serve them well into the future.

As we look ahead to the second half of the school year, our continued focus on problem-solving remains at the heart of our work with students. We encourage them to think critically, communicate clearly, and persevere when challenges arise. Thank you for reinforcing these important skills at home and for your ongoing support of Patch Middle School. We wish you a happy holiday season filled with warmth and joy, and we look forward to an exciting and successful new year together.

Warm regards,
Mrs. Gamble and Mr. Myrga

Aspen vs. Google Classroom: Where to Find Official Grades

At Patch Middle School, both Aspen and Google Classroom play important roles in keeping families informed, but each serves a different purpose. Understanding the difference helps parents and students stay on top of learning and grading.

Aspen – The Official Gradebook
Aspen is the only official record of student grades. Final assignment grades and overall course grades are entered and maintained in Aspen. When you want to know a student’s current standing in a class, always check Aspen first—these grades are the ones that count toward report cards and transcripts.

Google Classroom – The Learning Platform
Google Classroom is where teachers share assignment details, instructions, resources, and—when appropriate—provide a place for students to submit work digitally. While teachers may post feedback and scores in Google Classroom, these numbers are intended for communication and guidance only. They do not represent official grades.

Key Takeaway
Think of Aspen as the gradebook and Google Classroom as the classroom workspace. Both are important, but only Aspen contains the grades that appear on report cards.
